In this concert Nicholas gives a performance of acclaimed composer James MacMillan’s new Oboe Concerto written especially for Nicholas Daniel and Britten Sinfonia, conducted by the composer himself. The rest of the concert features Beethoven’s vigorous Symphony No. 2 and Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony, a powerful reaction to the 1945 bombing of Dresden.
