Gift Aid for Businesses

When you make a corporate gift to Norwich Theatre Royal, you make the Gift Aid claim and you receive the benefit. Simply include the gift on your annual tax return—there is no paperwork to fill in and no reclaims from the Inland Revenue—no administrative hassle. It’s a win-win!

This is how it works.

Let’s say that your business would like to make an outright gift of £10,000 to the Theatre Royal. We suggest that you donate the amount, plus the tax you would have paid on that amount. For example, if your company donated £14,285.71 at 30% tax, your cost is only £10,000. The Theatre Royal benefits from the entire £14,285.71 amount.

 £142,857.14  £42,857.14  £100,000

Let’s assume you want the Theatre Royal to receive a total of £5,000. Put this gift against tax under Gift Aid, and it costs you only £3,500, the full amount of your gift, less tax! (Your corporation tax varies depending on your company’s turnover, but it’s up to 30%). Here are some examples:

Using Gift Aid, your contribution to Norwich Theatre Royal can have an even bigger impact. These examples are provided as a guide, and UK taxpayers must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year. In addition, further tax relief may be available—higher rate taxpayers may be able to claim relief on the difference between the basic and higher rates of tax on their personal tax returns.

If you are a UK taxpayer, use GIFT AID to make your donation worth more. For every pound you give us, we can reclaim an extra 28p from Inland Revenue. Make your online Gift Aid declaration at the same time you make your online contribution, or click here to download a Gift Aid form.
