In one of London’s less desirable districts, successful restaurateur Tom arrives unannounced at Kyra’s flat. Exploding back into her life he demands forgiveness for their adulterous affair which she ended three years ago, the moment his dying wife learned of its existence. Skylight blends humour, tension, tenderness and confrontation, as Tom and Kyra’s love is challenged by their differing views.
A gripping and thrilling play, an impassioned head-on collision of values and confused desires by one of Britain’s most successful playwrights, it was first performed at the National Theatre in 1995 and won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 1996.
